What Ever Happened to Lee Holloway?
In the beginning, Lee was a community activist, working with inner-city youths, coaching basketball at Messmer High School, he was motivated and his heart was full of joy and kindness! |
 |
Unfortunately, like many before him, his journey led him to politics and he was elected to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors in the Fifth District. It was this fateful event that introduced him to his mentor, disgraced former Milwaukee County Executive F. Thomas Ament who was thrown out of office via recall for his role in the infamous pension scandal of 2002. That gold-plated government perk is still paying out today and threatens to bankrupt the county. Thus Lee's path to the "dark side" was sealed. |
 |
Here we see Lee tearfully embracing Mentor Ament as he leaves the hallowed chambers of county government for the last time. Lee had been one of Ament's most strident supporters during the recall - a real cheerleader who desparately fought to save his mentor. We wonder what last set of instructions Ament may have whispered into Lee's ear as he was being banished never to return again. |
 |
Our first inkling of Lee's transformation to an Ament clone occurred when he attempted to bully a school janitor by showing him his "supervisor's badge" and attempting to impersonate a police officer. He was eventually charged with impersonating a police officer and disorderly conduct, plea bargained down to a lesser crime and stipulated to the penalty.

Lee had his problems with citizens attempting to recall him as well. He became so frightened of the consequences of losing power he hired a shady outfit to try to drum up absentee votes for his campaign. That group was charged with multiple counts of vote fraud and it's leader was convicted and sent to jail. Of course, "Teflon Lee" dodged most of the dirt associated with vote fraud by cleverly distancing himself from the very group he hired and won the election handily - with a paltry 800+ votes in TOTAL - for his ENTIRE district. So deep runs the fear of Holloway that even the vote in his favor is suppressed!

Lee continued to find more trouble - or it found him - as his past began catching up with him. Ninety ethics counts were lodged against him the most serious having to do with $165,000 he received from the the fraudulent OIC group he was connected to for a building he rented/sold to them that OIC never occupied or used! His well-honed "Boss Ament" skills learned at the knee of the master served him well. The Ethics Board Chairman resigned in disgust after Lee and his cronies attempted to defund the Board in order stop the investigation. Lee's teflon suit once again saved him as he plead down to reduced charges and paid a several thousand dollar fine.

I didn't take long before Lee was so overcome by the dark side that he was no longer satisfied with simple political bullying. No, now Lee was driven to physically assault his colleagues on the Board of Supervisors when they disagreed with him. Not once, but at least twice that we know of

The decline in the content of Lee's character notwithstanding, the real issue is how this translates into fiscal policy. Year after year Walker proposes a 0% tax increase and year after year Holloway, aided by his growing pack of cronies, fights him tooth and nail. We have only to look at his push for the outrageous sales tax he proposes and the disingenuous way he tries to defend it to understand Holloway's plan. Take your money and use it to buy votes!

And so it goes. This is the way Lee Holloway continues to conduct his life and spend your money.

Holloway's Latest Tax Spending Boondoggle
It is clear that Holloway has been totally consumed by the dark side of tax and spend politics. Especially in recessionary times government must live like it citizens. Government can no longer be used as a tool of legal extortion to bestow upon government employees perks that are well beyond the reach of its citizens, It is all a matter of trust. Ask yourself, "Do I trust Lee Holloway to be fair?"

After the Ament recall the pundits said it was time for the citizens of Milwaukee County to stand down and give the County Board some breathing room. They were wrong. We need to get back in the saddle and stay there. Scott Walker can't play the "Lone Ranger" forever. With any luck he'll be the next governor and then we are on our own. We better be ready! |
